The subreddit has been plagued with scammers over time and especially recently.

First, please be aware that buying and selling and even giving away accounts is against the game's terms of service. If Supercell detects an account transfer, the account will be banned.

Aside from that, however, many of those offering to sell accounts have no intention of doing anything but taking your money... and sometimes taking your own account as well.

We can and do ban them from the subreddit, but we cannot stop them from sending private messages, I'm afraid. If someone messages you, please just ignore them and do not respond.

Additional steps you can take:

If the person was also posting here on reddit, let us know via modmail and we can at least ban them from posting here if they're not already (/u/investigatorrr has been banned for years. The "PleaseDontBanMe" and Throwaway accounts are banned as we find them but tend to keep spawning new alts.)
If you can show it's a scam, you can report them to the reddit admins (not the moderators of this subreddit) at contact@reddit.com to suggest the account should be banned throughout reddit.
