Hi everyone, I wrote a farming guide a while ago and shared it with the r/clash discord server. A friend of mine suggested for me to post it here to reach more clashers. Edit** Wow thanks for the support guys, didn't expect my post to catch so much attention! 😅 My guide will inevitably be missing some parts (such as gob knife as mentioned in the comments) so feel free to comment below or reach me through discord. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! 🙂 Also, Remarkable Ad 8803 is Orange, and he's advice is therefore equally valid to my guide. Feel free to post him nay questions in the comments sections and I'm sure he'll reply to them when I'm sleeping as we have different timezones. Thank you orange for helping! Brief Self Intro I used to be lalo player struggling to keep my builders busy in champions as a TH10. I maxed all my defences, but my walls were taking me forever to max. Weeks of farming with little progress led me to decide that walls take way too long and that I needed a better method. Over the next 4 months, I went from TH10 with miserable walls to a TH13 with maxed walls, staying completely F2P throughout. I am writing this guide to share some of my experiences and tactics I've found to be effective. This guide was written to help those who are not yet familiar with late-game farming. Even if you are already rather comfortable with farming, I'm sure there are a few beneficial tips and tricks which can further elevate your overall farming efficiency. If you follow the advice in this guide, you should be able to comfortably farm 25mil resources per hour on average or even break some farming records if you get lucky. My personal hourly farming records are as follows: 43mil, net +76 trophies and 63.5mil, net -42 trophies. Let me know if you guys manage to beat these with a reasonable net trophy change (-200 trophies will not be considered unless the net loot gain is substantial!) I wrote this guide originally as a PowerPoint Presentation which you can find below:
Below is the text component in case anyone is unable to open the document. I recommend reading the PowerPoint version if possible, as I spent quite some time on formatting and getting some pretty pictures :D Do note that the contents of this guide are largely subjective, but supported with calculations and trialling. However, the methods discussed in this guide should take your farming from maybe a few million resources a day to an hourly average of 25-30mil without breaking a sweat. Any questions or suggestions for further improvement would be gladly appreciated. Check out the clash discord server if you haven't already at: https://discord.gg/clashofclansDiscord is my preferred way of contact. Feel free to ping me or send me a dm @SunnyJD#2438 Without further ado, let's get right into it! :D IntroductionWelcome to the farming side of Clash! Whether you're a hardcore or casual farmer, whether your heroes are upgrading or maxed out, this guide will cover the recommended farming methods for you. So navigate through the titles in the contents to find which strategy is most suitable for you. Have fun farming! ContentsIntroduction Why should I farm? Farming Basics What army should I use? What is the best trophy range? When is the best time to farm? What targets should I look for? Some Points to Note:All time and cost values in this guide do not consider good pass boosts. Reduce 20% from all values if you are a gold pass regular. Keep in mind that the contents of this guide are largely subjective, but supported with calculations and trialling. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, even if they are wrong. Although there is no 'Absolute Superior' strategy, some strategies have been found through trialling and calculations to be theoretically most efficient. Farming fatigue is vague and is different for everyone. It is therefore hard to measure but will be considered in this guide. So Why Should I Farm?To 'Farm' means to maximise loot gain above all else. Generally, upgrade costs for all builders can be sufficiently covered by a relatively active player at any range. This means, getting enough loot to keep your builders busy. However, walls cost a LOT, especially as you approach the endgame. Having a set of maxed walls is often seen as a subtle flex of wealth. Cumulative costs of a full set of th13 walls (from full lava walls) is 4.2 billion without gold pass cost reductions. Although it is possible to max out your th13 walls by purely grinding everyday in Legends, the process is quite slow, and will likely take years. With fully optimized farming, anyone should be able to fully max their walls within 3-4 months of 1-hour-a-day farming. Do note that farming can be tedious, and will not give you much practice for Legends/War Farming Makes Your Base Look Great!Farming from May to September 2020 F2P, I went from a th11 with sloppy walls to a th13 with the maximum number of walls available at the time. I hammered my point defences, and my base looked much much better overall, much better than if I had tried to max out th11. I would still be an early th12 if I did! (This is a picture slide, so the text might not mean much here :D) Farming BasicsThe fundamental idea behind farming is to gain the maximum loot in the minimum time, sacrificing all else for loot gain. Hence, we are looking to optimize loot/minute. All hardcore farming methods involve numerous raids within a single hour, often up to 30. This means that we need to minimize the training time of our army. We should look for an army that can get a decent amount of loot with minimal training time as opposed to a very heavy army that can triple, but takes a long time to train. A typical QC hybrid army, for example, takes ~40min to train. This army can gain 1mil/each in legends if you triple. Compare this to an army that takes 10 minutes to train but can acquire 600k/each. It is rather obvious that the latter has higher farming efficiency. That is, loot gain/minute of training time For partial armies, try to use as little training time worth of troops as you can, even if it means you won't be able to get all the loot. Remember, the ratio between troops used to loot gained is more important than how much you looted that single raid. Always keep a builder up for walls if you wish to hardcore farm. You will get full storages EVERYDAY once you start farming properly, so if you wish to complete the 4.2bil wall grind quickly, do not waste farming time because you have full storages! Key JargonFarmingEfficiency–A loose term for loot gain/minute of training time Optimization–optional techniques and spells/siege machines to take full advantage of the simultaneous cooking of troops, spells and siege machines to maximise farming efficiency. Note that these reduce the ease of use and army management for effectiveness. Effectiveness – Farming efficiency if used correctly and optimized Ease of use – Complexity of the strategy during the battle Easeofarmymanagement – Difficulty of keeping the desired army Ease of trophy management –Ease of win and efficiency of lose raids S – Top in the meta. A – One of the best in the meta. B–Decent, but there are better options. '+' – A marker for halfway between tiers. Full Army – a composition where you drop everything in your camp during every raid. Partial Army – a composition where you drop only some of the troops in your army. Usually, as little as you can to maximize farming efficiency. Sgobs – Sneaky goblins, a super troop unlocked at th11 if you have level 7 goblins. Sbarbs – Super barbarians, a super troop unlocked at th11 if you have level 8 barbarians. Trophy Neutral Farming Cycle – A cycle usually consisting of 2 win raids and a lose raid. Win raids will require more troops than lose raids. Boosted Hour – An hour of non-stop farming after you use a training potion or boost your barracks Why Remain Trophy Net Neutral? The idea behind this cycle is to balance your trophies so you don't rise or fall steeply outside of the optimal farming range, and having to go out of your way to climb/drop back into the range. If you just drop your hero and surrender, you are potentially wasting an opportunity to take all the loot with much fewer troops (as you don't need to spend extra to win), and thus lowering your overall farming efficiency. The effectiveness and trophy maintenance of any particular army composition is often calculated through these cycles. Farming compositionsSince the March update of 2020, super troops have absolutely dominated the TH11+ farming meta, namely sneaky gobs (hereon referred to as sgobs) and super barbs (hereon referred to as sbarbs). Sgobs and Sbarbs are significantly more effective than any other composition. However, super troops can only be unlocked at th11 and is therefore not accessible by lower TH players. I would personally recommend rushing if you are looking to dive into the 4.2bil wall farm asap, but again, opinions on the topic of rushing vary, so do as you please. Low Th FarmingIf you are currently below Th9, I would really suggest getting to Th9 asap if you are aiming to get to the end game at all. I will only say that barch is probably the most effective farming army. Th9 onwards, there a couple of popular armies: GiWiz Mass miners Mass Baby Drags Mass Edrags GiWizArmy comp: As the name suggests, use half giants half wizards, split by housing space, not troop count. Optimizations: No effective optimizations yet. Effectiveness: B Gets the job done, gets all the loot in the base with moderate training time (full army) Ease of use: S Just drop them evenly around the base. Ease of army management: S The army is fixed. Just train from quick train bar after every battle Ease of trophy management: A Very easy to win. Dropping trophies is very inefficient. How Do I use GiWiz?Just spread them out evenly on all sides of the base, it's that simple! As long as you have more than 1 finger, Giwiz is a no-brainer. After you attack, remember to train them again from the quick train menu and you're good to go! In terms of trophies management, you should be easily winning every battle and your trophies will rise quickly. Simply drop heroes to lower your trophy count back into the sweet zone. Mass MinersArmy comp: As the name suggests, fill your camps with miners. Throw in archers if you want, doesn't make much difference. Optimizations: No effective optimizations yet. Effectiveness: B+ Gets the job done, gets all the loot in the base with fast training time (full army) Ease of use: S Just drop them evenly around the base. Ease of army management: S Army is fixed. Just train from quick train bar after every battle Ease of trophy management: B+ Wins most battles. Dropping trophies is very inefficient. How do I use Mass Miners?Just like with Giwiz, all you need to do is spread them out evenly on all sides of the base and they'll do the work for you! After you attack, remember to train them again from the quick train menu. In terms of trophies management, you should also be easily winning every battle and your trophies will rise quickly. Simply drop heroes to lower your trophy count back into the sweet zone. Mass Baby DragsArmy comp: As the name suggests, fill your camps with Baby Drags. Optimizations: Zaps are optional for optimization. Reduces baby drags per raid and may allow access to heavily guarded sections. Effectiveness: A Gets all the loot in the base with moderate training time (partial army) Ease of use: B Ease of army management: A Partial Army, therefore not clean armies. However since the army consists of only baby drags, just use 'train previous army' or hold down on baby drags again. Ease of trophy management: A Wins most battles. Dropping trophies is moderately efficient. How Do I use Baby Ds?Drop them around the base spaced enough to allow for the tantrum ability. Try to Avoid Air Defences and other high Air DPS buildings. Go for mines/collectors and low hp trash buildings. Try to use as little baby drags as you can per raid to maximize farming efficiency. Try to collect a 50% one star to win. Rotate through Trophy Neutral Farming Cycles. (see definition) Mass EdragsArmy comp: As the name suggests, fill your camps with Edrags. Optimizations: Rage spells are optional for optimization. May reduce Edrags per raid from 5 to 4. Effectiveness: A Gets all the loot in the base with slow training time (small partial army). Ease of use: B Ease of army management: A Partial Army, therefore not clean armies. However since the army consists of only Edrags, just use 'train previous army' or hold down on Edrags again. Ease of trophy management: B+ Moderately easy to win battles. Dropping trophies is moderately efficient. How Do I use Mass Edrags? (TH11 before you unlock supers)DO NOT use them like you would in legends or war. That will make edrags extremely inefficient as far as farming is concerned. Drop them around the base in areas with a lot of trash buildings and/or collectors. Try to use as few as you can per raid to maximize farming efficiency. You should be aiming to use 4-5 edrags per raid. Try to collect a 50% one star to win. Rotate through Trophy Neutral Farming Cycles. (see definition) Other Comments on Low TH FarmingAgain, I don't recommend staying too long on below TH11 as super troops are much more effective and easier to use. Hardcore Farming is not needed at all for lower Town halls. If you hardcore, you will find that it will only take a few days to max your walls. Rushing: Rush if you are a capable and willing farmer. You can see what type of player you are by your wall progress. If you find yourself maxing your walls well before anything else, then you are suitable for rushing. Otherwise, just take it slow and max out. General farmer's rush gauge: upgrade your TH once you max your walls. This rule applies to every TH. Super Troop CompositionsAs discussed earlier, super troops (sbarbs and sgobs) are by quite far the best armies for farming. Three main compositions: Mass sgobs Mass sbarbs Super Farming Hybrid (Sbobs) Mass SgobsArmy comp: As the name suggests, fill your camps with Sgobs Optimizations: no effective optimizations known Effectiveness: S (~26mil/hr with warden) Gets all the loot in the base with fast training time (partial army). Ease of use: B+ Ease of army management: A Partial Army, therefore not clean armies. However since the army consists of only sgobs, just use 'train previous army' or hold down on sgobs again. Ease of trophy management: A Easy to win, but only on certain bases. Finding 2 win bases per lose base is difficult, so long term trophy loss is difficult to avoid. Dropping trophies is very efficient. How Do I use Sgobs?Sgobs have a unique net trophy neutral cycle. Win raids involve using jumps to snipe the TH, and use 1 sgob per mine. Lose raids: Use 1 sgob per mine. If your warden is available, use full jumps. If not, use half jump half rage to snipe TH. Remember to stay Trophy Net Neutral. 2 wins per loss. Don't drop too much. It's a pain to get back up. There is a more detailed guide for Sgobs written by OrangeF2P. Contact me on discord if you are interested in the more detailed sgob guide. Mass SbarbsArmy comp: As the name suggests, fill your camps with Sbarbs Optimizations: Use Siege Barracks (your own preferably) to gain extra %. This greatly cuts down how many barbs you need to use. Effectiveness: S (~28mil/hr with all heroes) Gets all the loot in the base with fast training time (partial army). Ease of use: S Ease of army management: A Partial Army, therefore not clean armies. However since the army consists of only sbarbs, just use 'train previous army' or hold down on sbarbs again. Ease of trophy management: A+ Very easy to win. Dropping trophies is of moderate efficiency. How Do I use Sbarbs?Rotate through Trophy Neutral Farming Cycles. (see definition) Win raids: Drop them evenly around the base. Try to use as little as you can per raid to maximize farming efficiency. You should be aiming to use 30 barbs per raid, 20-25 if you have heroes. 15-20 if sb optimized. Lose raids: Drop one per collector/mine (similar to sgobs). Remember, 2 wins per loss. Prototype: Super Farming Hybrid (Sbobs)Sbobs' = 'Sbarbs' + 'Sgobs' The idea behind this comp is to provide a more versatile build that combines the positives of sbarbs and sgobs. Sbarbs are the best comp for win raids, and sgobs are the most efficient for lose raids. This hybrid also further increases the effectiveness of sbarb raids. Army comp: ' The ratio of sgobs : sbarbs depends on where you prefer using sbarbs or sgobs. If you prefer sbarbs, then it should be 1:1 in terms of housing space. In a 300 space camp, that is 30 barbs and 50 gobs If you prefer sgobs, then it should be 3:2 in terms of housing space. In a 300 space camp, that is 24 barbs and 60 gobs Use mass jump spells, for the sgobs Optimizations: Use Siege Barracks (your own preferably) to gain extra %. This greatly cuts down how many troops you need to use. Why should I use Sbobs?Effectiveness: S+ (~32mil/hr with heroes, ~35mil/hr with heroes and SB) Gets all the loot in the base with fast training time (partial army). Ease of use: A+ Rotate through Trophy Neutral Farming Cycles. (see definition) Win raids:
Lose raids: use sgobs to snipe mines, just like in mass sgobs. Remember, 2 wins per loss. Ease of army management: B+ Partial Army, therefore not clean armies. The army consists of two different types, which can get complicated to manage. However, you can just train whatever you used last. This forcefully maintains the 1:1 ratio. When you start off, you can train troops in the exact ration you want them in. If you prefer sbarbs for example, the ratio of troops housing space wise should be 1:1. So you can train 3 sbarbs, then 5 sgobs, and repeat until you fill up your camp. After every raid, just train what you used during that raid and the 2 will naturally balance out. Ease of trophy management: S Can win very easily with sbarbs, especially with the help of sgobs in tricky places. Sgobs can also win very easily on bases where Th is exposed. Sgobs are very efficient during lose raids. All in all, very good comp for trophy maintenance. What league should I farm in?*Note that the best trophy range: Maximises farming efficiency above all else Is not necessarily the range with the most loot or highest chance of dead targets. A lower range with less loot and less dead bases but consisting of trash bases that can be walked over by minimal troops is better than a higher range which requires more troops. Remember that farming efficiency is determined by loot per training minute For the vast majority of all strategies listed, the trophy ranges for each TH are as follows: Th13/Th14: 2100-2500 Th12: 2000-2400 Th11: 1900-2300 And so on. (-100 for each th level drop) When is the best time to farm?According to the clash database source clashlootforecaster.com, the best times for farming are as follows: (AEST, as I'm an Aussie :D) 07:00 –09:00 11:00 –14:00 17:00 –22:00 It is strongly recommended that you farm somewhere during these times. Loot at any other time of the day is significantly worse. The higher the number on the loot forecaster meter, the better the loot. What Targets Should I Look For?To maximise farming efficiency, we need to know which targets to look hit The best targets are NOT the ones with millions of loot. (Though these are often great targets for loss raids) The best targets are the ones where the loot is very easily accessible, and a win can be achieved with minimal troop use. Below are a few examples: (pictures in the PowerPoint) Essentially, you are looking for bases where the loot can be taken with very few troops. Further OptimizationsThere are many optimizations you can implement.
Other General Farming TipsFarming is not for everyone. If you do not like hardcore farming, then stick to casual farming. Don't push yourself too hard on the first few days, and end up burning out and not farming for the next week. It is important to keep a healthy farming routine. Aim to farm 1-2 boosted hours every day. Remember, consistency is more important in the long run than single a record-breaking farming day! Have fun when you farm. You can watch youtube, chat on discord, listen to music etc. when you're soaring through the clouds. This allows you to go longer without burning out. Buy the gold pass if you can. It is by the far the best value buy in the game, but the perks are even crazier for us farmers. 20% cost reduction means you can upgrade 25% more walls. 20% troop reduction = much higher farming efficiency. The perks stack, so 120% x 120% = 144%, so you'll be farming 44% faster, and upgrading 120% x 125% = 156%, 56% more wall upgrades in the same time frame! That value for a month is quite worth the 5$ if you can spare it. So what's next?Glad that you have made it this far through the guide. With all the different options presented to you, I'm quite sure you can find something that you suits you well. Farming has really come a long way over the years. From struggling with a few hundred thousand an hour, to over 30mil an hour average. Farming really is quite broken rn, especially with the new super troops Well what are you waiting for? Go and knock out those walls! Please do remember the farming tips, and don't burn yourself out!
