How to leave a clan you've grown close to?

I've been in my clan for several months now, but have not always been comfortable in it. They are terrible in war, leader is a bit toxic and sometimes kicks people unfairly. Like these dudes can't even 3 star people that are a town hall below them. The leader won't kick these guys though, because the horrible attackers are his friends. And, he always puts them in war. Just to see more 1 star attacks. However, I feel like I have grown close to them. They can be pretty cool, and are fun to talk to. But I sometimes wonder why I'm there, and seem to be one of the only people who can 3 star. First of all, should I leave, and second of all, how should I, if I've grown close?

TLDR: I'm in a clan that sucks at war attacks and has a toxic leader, but I've grown close to them. I don't know if I should leave or how I should leave.
